There is such wisdom in stepping away from the tyranny of the urgent and working in a cooperative forum stretching your strategy muscles. This makes me think of a certain @TED ster who recently spoke on taking a sabbatical 1 year out of every 7 years. More on that later. It’s great to see H&M cover this event and see their appreciation for this classic style. With the resurgence of classic workwear it’s interesting to see parallels with workwear and rockabilly styles.

This seems like another good E-commerce story worth considering. According to Draper’s Online, a fashion news site, sales for the online retailer jumped more than 50% to £85 million for the year end.

Read the whole story here. Also, worth noting is their plan to launch an online discount store called TheOutNet.com (another terrible name by the way) next month.

When times are tough, you need some new ideas and fast. It seems kind of obvious but may bear repeating - E-commerce is growing. It’s cost efficient and allows for higher margins. Don’t take my word for it. Forrester Research will back that up.

Despite economic uncertainty, ecommerce is expected to grow 11% in 2009, according to Forrester Research.

Forrester analyst Sucharita Mulpuru said the majority of the 2009 growth in online spending will come at the expense of physical stores. She expects more consumer dollars to be spent online because it’s easier for people to comparison shop and to find what they’re looking for.

Think about what you should be doing to capitalize on this - and fast. Get Elastic talks about a few idea starters.

In case you didn’t know ROS advertising creates a lot of...

In case you didn’t know ROS advertising creates a lot of waste. Wasted eyeballs that is. Make sure you keep an eye out on your media buy and ensure your dollars go as far as possible. I turns out the latest stats show an average of 40% of traffic to some of the big guys is coming from outside the U.S. If your products or service are only available in the U.S. you’re potentially wasting $.40 on the $1. Cameron Yull has a nice piece about this at iMedia Connection that you may find helpful.

Wahoo’s 20th birthday celebration at the original location...

Wahoo’s 20th birthday celebration at the original location on Placentia.
